The DAISY Awards is an international recognition programme that honours and celebrates the leadership and compassionate care nurses provide every day.
"The DAISY Awards allow patients, visitors, staff and members of the public to nominate nurses who have gone above and beyond to make a difference. The DAISY Awards played a big part of our journey to achieving the Pathway to Excellence accreditation which recognise the contribution that nurses make to patient care", explains Mary Masih, Pathway to Excellence lead.
The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes following his death from a life-changing disease. Patrick's family deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and them whilst he was in hospital and, by way of recognition, felt compelled to say thank you to nurses in a very public way.
To date we have awarded up to 72 nursing staff.
